Arsenal willing to pay €60m to sign 43-goal striker
Arsenal are willing to pay €60 million to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in the coming days, according to Football Transfers.
The Gunners have had a quiet summer transfer window, but they are expected to be busy before the transfer deadline on August 30.
A new midfielder is one of the top priorities for manager Mikel Arteta while the club could also spend big on a marquee striker.
Gyokeres has been monitored closely for a number of months and the club are now prepared to spend around €60m for his services.
The striker currently has a release clause worth €100m in his contract, but Sporting are willing to negotiate for his possible exit.
However, they are still expected to hold out for at least €70m, considering 10 percent of the transfer fee will be owed to Coventry City.
Gyokeres is presently happy to continue with the Portuguese champions next season, but the scenario could change in the near future.
The Swede scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists from 53 appearances for Sporting last season.
