Mikel Arteta reacts as Arsenal thrash Man City 5-1
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight after the Gunners' resounding 5-1 win against Manchester City in the Premier League.
The north London giants had the perfect start through Martin Odegaard's goal in the second minute, but City managed to equalise through Erling Braut Haaland after the interval.
The lead lasted for less than two minutes before Thomas Partey scored from long-range. Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri put the game beyond City's sight.
Speaking after the rout, Arteta said that the Gunners had to be brave and got the result they deserved for the performance over 90 minutes.
He said: "It's a great day. Considering the opposition that we played, the result we got and in the manner we did it. It makes it a special day. We had to be brave and it paid off."
Arsenal remain six points behind leaders Liverpool after the win over City, but the Merseyside outfit still have a game in hand against Everton on the road scheduled this month.
