Chelsea have not given up on their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to football.london.

The Blues have had a good working relationship with the Red Devils over the years. They signed Alejandro Garnacho from them last summer.

Mainoo has likewise been on their radar for some time, and it is claimed that the Blues could make an approach for the player in January.

The Englishman has fallen out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim this term and he is desperate for playing time going forward.

With the World Cup coming up next year, Mainoo is determined to play regularly in the Premier League to boost his selection prospects.

It remains to be seen whether Mainoo will consider a move to the Blues, given they are well loaded in the heart of the midfield.

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are outright starters for them, and Mainoo may face a similar situation at Man United.

At United this season, Mainoo has played second fiddle to Bruno Fernandes for the number eight role. Amorim does not see him as a holding midfielder.

Mainoo made some appearances as a no.10 last season, but the summer arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo has closed that door.
