Paris Saint Germain notched up their second victory of the season and in the process hinted at their title potential with a 2-1 win at Monaco on Sunday. PSG looked impressive and their tital rivals Monaco, now move to fifth. Monaco's loss was their second consecutive defeat after the 2-1 defeat to Bordeaux.

PSG now move up to 11th and have highlighted their aims and hopes for the campaign.

PSG grabbed the first two goals through Sylvain Armand and Amara Diane. Monaco grabbed a consolation through Jeremy Menez in the 85th from a free-kick.

PSG coach Paul Le Guen said after the game, "This was a victory for our talent for much of the game. This should give us renewed confidence. We said we were coming here to win, and we proved it."

Elsewhere, Rennes beat Lorient 1-0 to move up to fourth place, one point behind the leaders.

Lens defeated Nancy 1-0, and a perfect tonic for new boss Jean-Pierre Papin as Dindane scored from the penalty spot. Lyon defeated Metz 5-1, thanks to a first half hat-trick from the impressive Karim Benzema.

Marseille's worrying start to the season continued as the impressive Toulouse defeated Marseille at the Velodrome 2-1.

Valenciennes drop from second position to fourth after losing 2-0 at Le Mans, as third-placed Bordeaux were held 1-1 at Lille in a game the highlight of which was the debut of former Dutch star Patrick Kluivert for the hosts.

Saint-Etienne, meanwhile, bounced back from last week's loss to Nancy as an Araujo Ilan double helped them to a 3-0 win over Caen.

Strasbourg drew 0-0 at Sochaux, and Auxerre defeated Nice 2-0 at home.
