Man Utd eyeing shock move for 22yo Barcelona star

Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard has been a key player for the Catalan giants over the years, but his starting position is no longer guaranteed under manager Hansi Flick.

Joao Cancelo was re-signed on loan from Al Hilal last winter, and talks are underway with the Saudi club to land him on a permanent basis.

Barcelona are also keen on landing a marquee left-back to compete with Cancelo, and they are prepared to part ways with Balde for the right price.

Balde is not exploring a new challenge away from the club, but with just two years left on his deal, he could leave for around 50 million euros.

United have the financial muscle to meet the reported valuation, but the big question remains whether the player will be convinced to depart.

Barcelona are also open to parting ways with versatile defender Jules Kounde. He has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea lately.
