Chelsea midfielder suffers another hamstring injury

Romeo Lavia news

Lavia out with hamstring issue

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia missed today's pre-season friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers due to a hamstring injury.

The Belgian has had an injury-plagued career with the Blues and he has picked up 12 separate injuries since he arrived from Southampton,

Lavia has yet to turn the corner, given he has suffered another setback.

Speaking after the Blues' 6-4 win over Sydney, manager Xabi Alonso confirmed that Lavia was absent due to a hamstring concern.

However, he was optimistic about his recovery from the setback, and he could be available for the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Chelsea recently parted ways with Andrey Santos. The Brazilian made the switch to Manchester United in a deal worth £50m.

The Blues decided to place their faith in Lavia over Santos despite his injury woes. Only time will tell whether the decision pays off.

Chelsea are currently looking at signing Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson to provide depth and experience in the squad.
