Arsenal star set to make injury return vs Sunderland

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber looks set to make his return from a groin injury against Sunderland this weekend.

The Dutchman has not featured for the Gunners since the Champions League final last campaign. He missed the World Cup with a nagging groin issue and has continued to remain on the sidelines.

Timber started training with the team earlier this week, and he was part of the travelling squad to face Napoli, but did not make the matchday sheet.

Manager Mikel Arteta did not feel that Timber was ready enough to be involved, but the right-back could at least make the squad on Saturday.

The Gunners take on Sunderland on the road in the weekend's league game, and Timber could make an appearance off the bench if required.

Ben White has started and finished every match at right-back this campaign, but the Englishman's workload needs to be managed soon, given he has had a concerning injury record in the last few years.
