Arsenal striker handed huge selection boost?

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres could get an untimely selection boost following Kai Havertz's hamstring injury on international duty this week.

Havertz has been Arsenal's regular striker since the start of the season. He has repaid manager Mikel Arteta's faith with three goals in seven matches.

Gyokeres, on the other hand, has managed just 29 league minutes thus far and has been limited to starts in the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Havertz is now facing a race against time to be fit to face Leeds United on October 10, having picked up a hamstring issue playing for Germany against the Netherlands.

He will undergo a medical examination in the next 24 to 48 hours, but things look gloomy at the moment, and he could be sidelined for a few weeks at least.

There is still plenty of time before the Leeds match at the Emirates Stadium, but as things stand, it looks like Gyokeres could make his first league start this term.
