FIFA chief blasts Man United

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has blasted the reigning Premiership and European champions Manchester United over their stranglehold of Cristiano Ronaldo, accusing them of "modern slavery".

Cristiano Ronaldo has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and it has also been reported that he himself wants to leave Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

But Man United and Sir Alex Ferguson are not in a mood to yield to the player's wishes and have even rejected a 70 million euro bid for the player in recent days from Real Madrid.

FIFa chief Blatter has now come out of the blocks and has blasted United for their stance of not letting Ronaldo go where he wants. Blatter is in favour of Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid and ths is what he told Sky Sports:

“In football there’s too much modern slavery. I’m always in favour of protecting the player.

“If he wants to leave, let him. If Ronaldo stays at a club where he does not feel comfortable to play then it’s not good for him or the club.

“The important thing is that we should also protect the player. And if they want to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found.”
