Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has been named as the new captain of the Argentina national team by his boss, Argentinian legend Diego Maradona.
"I convinced him because it was my decision. For my ear at the National team it need him as captain. Javier can encourage a lot inside the field, we do not ask him to be immediately the leader, his game will give it," Maradona said.
"What I want is someone next to me who has lived limit moment to be able to transmit them to the rest of the players."
