Vertonghen to Chelsea?

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to swoop for Belgium international defender Jan Vertonghen from Ajax in the January transfer window. Reports indicate that the Blues will pay around 14m GBP for his signature.

Vertonghen has been in wonderful form for Ajax over the past three years, and has been monitored by a number of Europe's biggest clubs including Real Madrid and Juventus.

Vertonghen formed a solid centre back partnership with current Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen before he quit for the Premiership, now Vertonghen could too be heading to England.

Chelsea have found themselves struggling for form over the past few weeks, and the addition of Vertonghen would be most welcome for their fans.

Chelsea's current form reads only one win in six games; which has even left some questioning the future of Carlo Ancelotti.
