Wilshere has to push on

Jack Wilshere is a player who is now being coveted by a huge number of clubs in Europe after an exceptional season in which he shone not only in the Premier League, but also upstaged many more experienced players to be Arsenal's top player against Barcelona in both of their Champions League ties against the Spanish giants.

Despite this, the youngster knows all too well that next season, he will be expected to not only follow up on his success this season by remaining consistent, but also to go one step further by improving radically upon his performances in the middle of the park. Those looking at the Euro 2012 betting odds will know this will be crucial to England's chances.

While Wilshere is going to be handed additional time to prepare this summer and will no doubt be monitored by Arsenal in order to help him avoid injury problems (something that his absence from the England Under 21s should help with), he will need to make sure that he manages to avoid the burn-out that resulted in his performances taking a significant tumble towards the latter part of last season. Despite Wilshere not playing poorly as such, his lack of energy in the last few games of the season certainly goes a long way to explaining why Arsenal faded away so badly towards the end of the campaign. The Champions League betting shows that Wilshere could have a big impact on things this time around.

Should Arsene Wenger choose to bring in some more experienced players who can play in the centre of midfield this summer, then the chances are that Wilshere should be able to play the majority of games but also be allowed the chance to be rotated at times in order to keep him far fresher and fully able to continue his development as a hugely gifted individual upon whose future England's international success at future tournaments may well depend upon.
