Chelsea desperate for Modric deal

Chelsea desperate for Modric deal

01 August 2011 - 03:17

Chelsea are still desperate to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, despite finding their initial bids for the Croatian midfielder rebuffed. Spurs are asking the Blues to cough up around 35m GBP to bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • "I don't like talking about players from other clubs, but that's something we'll look at in the week and take it from there," chief executive of Chelsea, Ron Gourlay, told Sky Sports News.

Chelsea have identified Modric as their top target and have discussed signing the player with new boss Andre Villas-Boas, who approves of his addition to the squad.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are known to be desperate to keep Modric at White Hart Lane. Harry Redknapp commented on the situation earlier in the summer: "We know he wants to leave, whether he writes it down on a piece of paper doesn't really make any difference to our stance. He's a great player and we don't want to lose him."
