Kalou gives Chelsea win

Kalou gives Chelsea win

07 October 2007 - 16:13

Salomon Kalou gave Chelsea an important three points in a tough travel to Bolton today. Chelsea won for the first time in the Premier League since 25 August. The 3 points brings another victory for Chelsea after their midweek exploits against Spanish giants Valencia.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • Bolton left out both Kevin Nolan and Gary Speed - very bold - but the move did not pay off as Chelsea grabbed three points.

Nonetheless, the result means Bolton have lost three of their four Premier League games at home and have collected just five points from their nine games to remain anchored in the bottom three.

Lampard, Kalou and Malouda all went close several times, if not for the brilliant reflexes of Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Bolton's enthusiasm, though, was clear to see and they continue to push forward whenever possible.

Terry, wearing his mask, struggled to contain Davies while Cech saved from Ivan Campo and, after a superb Bolton break, denied Nicolas Anelka.

Kalou seized his chance to steal between the two, resisting an attempt from Meite to wrestle him off the ball before putting Chelsea ahead.

Giannakopoulos skimmed the crossbar in injury time, but it was not enough and Chelsea picked up an important 3 points as their Premiership challenge is still very much on.
