van der Vaart backs Redknapp for England job

17 December 2011 - 09:02

Rafael van der Vaart has backed his Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp for the England job, once Fabio Capello steps down afte the Euro 2012 tournament. The Dutchman thinks Redknapp is the front runner for the soon to be vacant role.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
 • "I hope Harry is going to stay but, to be honest, I think he is maybe the right man for the [England] job. The players would accept him … and especially, the people in England, everybody loves him, so I think it is going to be a good move from the England organisation. It would be bad for Tottenham but somebody else would come," said van der Vaart.
A number of names have been linked with the position, including QPR manager Neil Warnock and even Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger; but it appears that Harry Redknapp is the favorite to take the position.
Redknapp earlier in the week admitted that he was flattered to have been linked with the job, but wants to focus on his Tottenham duties for the time being.
