21 June 2013 - 00:03

Initial negotiations have taken place between Arsenal and Real Madrid over a fee for the Argentine striker but sources still regard that a deal is not yet finished between the clubs.

 • Chelsea open to selling midfielder for £100m amid Real Madrid interest
 • Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool?
 • Gonzalo Higuain has agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of a sapid move from Real Madrid this summer.
The Striker will pocket a pay rise if he joins the Gunners way above the modest £64,000-a-week at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Gunners are hopeful that an that an offer of £20m can close the deal, while the Spanish giants are holding out for around £25.5m.
Higuain gave an alert to his buyers by publicly insisting that he would leave Madrid this summer following six years at the La Liga giants.
Juventus have also made the star forward an offer but there are big doubts about their interest in paying a £20m-plus fee.
Arsene Wenger has made a concrete move for Higuain as he bids to break Arsenal’s transfer record comfortably surpassing the club's record on two new players this summer.
Sources also reveal that Arsenal have also considered activating the £22m release clause in Marouane Fellaini's Everton contract but are yet to open up official talks with the player.
