Victor Wanyama's move to Southampton back on

07 July 2013 - 07:56

Despite earlier reports that Southampton had failed in their attempts to persuade Kenya international Victor Wanyama to swap Glasgow for the South Coast, Celtic manager Neil Lennon told reporters yesterday that a move to the Saints is still possible.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • It is understood that Southampton will break the Scottish transfer record should a deal be wrapped up for the defensive midfielder. At this point, Southampton's bid has been accepted but the player and his agent want more money to make the move to the Premier League.

"I had a chat with Victor and he’s a wee bit confused but what we gather is that Southampton have re-ignited their interest," said Lennon

"They’ve shown an interest again and the bid is there. It’s all about the negotiations between Saints and his agent now. I’d imagine that will get the ball rolling again.

"I’ve only seen Victor for a couple of days but he has trained with the rest of the squad."
