Will Arsenal bid for the Chelsea star ?

20 July 2013 - 00:46

Arsenal are currently monitoring the situation around Chelsea midfield sensation Juan Mata. The Gunners failed in their bid to attain the services of Mata two years ago when Chelsea snapped up the player during the 2011 summer transfer window.

The North London club, have been linked with a whole host of big-name stars from Europe including the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney. But the fact still remains that the Gunners are yet to bring any of those big names to the Emirates, and it now appears that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to make an audacious move for Juan Mata.

  • Arsenal failed in their pursuit for the 25-year-old midfielder from Valencia in the summer of 2011 when their London rivals Chelsea beat him to his signature, with the Spaniard agreeing a five-year deal with the Stamford Bridge club for a fee in the region of £23.5m.

The Spaniard International has been sensational during his time with the Blues notching up a staggering 32 goals and 59 assists for the West London club in 118 appearances.

However, the new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho suggested earlier this week that there was no chance of Juan Mata being sold during the current transfer window, but the Arsenal boss Wenger is still monitoring the Spaniard's condition with the Blues with a view to purchasing him this summer.
