  • Martin Keown praises complete Arsenal star after Bournemouth win

  • The Gunners have been in pursuit of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and have had their initial bids rejected by the club.

Arsenal's last offer of £40 million plus one triggered a clause in the Uruguayan's contract which according to Liverpool isn't his buy out price. The Merseysiders have reiterated their firm desire to keep their star striker and it is unlikely that Wenger will go in with another improved offer.

He said: "We still have a strong squad but we are there on the market to try to strengthen our team. With or without additions we can be title challengers next season."

Arsenal have alread lost out in the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain after the Argentine forward recently penned a deal with Serie A side Napoli.

Despite reports of a possbile transfer kitty of £70 million being handed over to Wenger this summer, Arsenal have failed to sign any new player besides French youngster Yaya Sanogo for free.
