Diego Forlan believes Luis Suarez would lead Arsenal to their glory days

29 July 2013 - 13:59

Uruguayan International Diego Forlan, who currently plys his trade at Brazilian side Internacional, believes that his national team compatriot Luis Suarez would be the perfect signing to put Arsenal back into contention for the Premier League title.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The Gunners have so far had two bids rejected by Liverpool, and are reportedly on the cusp of third bid of £42.5m for the talented Luis Suarez. The Reds have so far refused to start off discussions over the player with the Merseyside based club's managing director Ian Ayre reiterating the club's stance on the star last week.

Forlan feels that his fellow national teammate would be the perfect fit for Wenger's side.

Forlan in an interview with the Mirror said "Manchester United have had Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie and Manchester City have had Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez. But Arsenal have struggled since Thierry Henry left,"

"If they manage to sign Luis, then I think, with the players they already have, they would be serious title contenders again. Only Luis knows what his plans are – but he would be a great signing for Arsenal.

"Of course, Arsenal are a very strong team, but, for the last years, they have not been able to compete with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea for the title. They have had very good players, but have maybe lacked that one special player who you need to win a league as strong as the Premier League."
