Napoli Is Looking For Another Striker

30 July 2013 - 16:34

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez claims that the club is still on the lookout for a new striker. The Spaniard is bent on bringing in another striker of Gonzalo Higuain’s caliber, in order to improve his chances in both Serie A and Champions League.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • "I want a striker at Higuain's level to be competitive in the league and the Champions League. Last year, Napoli had 14 alternatives. Three are gone, so there is a need for more reinforcements”, he was quated as saying by Repubblica.

Napoli were quick to invest the €64 million earned from Cavani’s sale to PSG, in renovating the squad. The club has already spent €56 million in the signings of Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain.

Coach Rafa Benitez has also been linked with a move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez. It would be interesting to see if Benitez could secure the transfer of Martinez, as he is intent on improving the quality of his strikeforce.
