Newcastle United ramp up interest in QPR striker Loic Remy

30 July 2013 - 19:47

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to ramp up their interest in QPR striker Loic Remy, shortly after pulling out of Bafetimbi Gomis talks. According to the Newcastle Chronicle, the club has intensified its pursuit of Remy in past 24 hours.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • Recent reports suggested that United have dropped interest in landing Olympique Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, after the French outfit rejected their £6.9 million offer for him. But it would be interesting to see if the situation changes as Gomis has been asked to train with the Under-19 team, if he returns to Lyon.
Alan Pardew and director of football at Newcastle Joe Kinnear are under the pressure to make a senior signing this summer. The club would expect them to bring at least two strikers before the transfer window shuts.
Pardew is now pushing for a loan move for QPR’s Loic Remy in order to bolster his ranks. He would be desperately hoping to add to his striking options as the club is now left with Papiss Cisse and Shola Ameobi as the only recognised attackers.
Remy scored 6 goals for QPR last season.
