Chelsea To Improve Offer For Wayne Rooney

31 July 2013 - 20:48

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is hoping to return for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney with an improved offer of £40m this time.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Mourinho had admitted earlier that Wayne Rooney is his club’s highest priority this summer as he is keen on going into the next season with the English international leading the line.

Chelsea already have Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku as attacking options but if Rooney’s transfer is secured, it is believed that either of  Torres or Demba Ba could be allowed to leave. It has also been reported that Liga outfit, Valencia, are planning to bid for Torres.

Manchester United boss David Moyes does not want to part with his star striker but Rooney has been disillusioned and angered by the coach’s statements recently, in which he said that the 27-year-old would be a mere back-up for RVP. It has been suggested that Chelsea is a preferred destination for Rooney, despite interest from another Premier League club, Arsenal.

The Chelsea manager also denied the rumours that suggested Juan Mata or David Luiz could be used to persuade United to sell Rooney.
