Carl Jenkinson heading to Sunderland on loan?

14 August 2013 - 10:32

After Paolo Di Canio failed in his efforts to bring Gino Peruzzi to the Stadium of Light this transfer window, it appears that the Italian manager has contacted Arsenal regarding the availability of right back Carl Jenkinson.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The English youngster has slowly progressed into the first team since arriving from Charlton two years ago and it is likely he will play second fiddle to Bacary Sagna this coming season.

With that in mind, Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to let the defender leave the Emirates on loan for the season. Paolo Di Canio has already signed Vito Mannone from the Gunners this summer and has reportedly contacted Wenger about Jenkinson last week.

A loan switch for Jenkinson will appeal to the youngster, who could slip further down the pecking order if a proposed move for a new right back goes through before the end of August.
