Moyes to gamble by playing Rooney against Chelsea

24 August 2013 - 01:53

Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to start England striker Wayne Rooney against his suitors, Chelsea, in their upcoming match. Chelsea are thought to be ready to put in a third bid for the striker, who had bids of £25m and £28m rejected for him.

  • £47m star to undergo Chelsea medical on Friday
  • Chelsea make first move to sign French centre-back
  • Manchester United insist that their star striker isn't for sale at any price, and that if he's sold, he won't be sold to one of their direct rivals.

Rooney's only competitive appearance this season came as a second half substitute against Swansea City in the Red Devil's season opener, which they won by four goals to one.
