Fiorentina deny last minute Cesar bid

Fiorentina deny last minute Cesar bid

10 September 2013 - 06:37

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has denied rumors that the club made a last minute bid for Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar this summer's transfer window.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Brazil international was reported to be on the verge of leaving QPR this summer with Arsenal also interested in his services. However, the Londoners failed to meet his wage demands and the deal fell through.

There have also been reports that Cesar turned down an offer from the Serie A club but Fiorentina categorically denied making any advances this summer.

"We were never rejected by Julio Cesar because we never contacted Julio Cesar," Prade told La Nazione.

"For two reasons - Julio Cesar has not played a real match since last April and then he has a very high salary, too high for us."
