Chelsea to make a bid for Papy Djilobodji

05 January 2014 - 20:49

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to monitor the progress of 25-year-old Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji. The 6 foot 4 defender is a surprise target for the Blues during the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The powerful centre back has been in excellent form for the French Ligue 1 side since he forced his way into the first team in 2010 and is now being linked with a move to the Premier League. Chelsea are looking to sign a new centre back for the second half of the season as there remains doubts over the future of Brazilian defender David Luiz whilst Jose Mourinho is also seeking a new backup defender for Gary Cahill and John Terry.<br />

The Blues are ready to match Nantes' asking price which is believed to be in the region of about 3.5 million Euros.
