Reina set for Napoli stay

Napoli to open talks with Liverpool over permanent transfer for Pepe Reina

06 May 2014 - 09:31

Napoli are understood to be keen on signing Pepe Reina from Liverpool on a permanent deal this summer.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Pepe Reina, who has spent the season at Napoli on-loan from the Reds, looks unlikely to return to his parent club next term, with manager Brendan Rodgers preferring Simon Mignolet to him as the club's number one.

Sporting director Riccardo Bigon has revealed that the Serie A club are eager to turn the Spanish international's loan move into a permanent stay.

"Reina is a very important player both on the field and off," Bigon said. "At the end of the season we will talk with him and Liverpool, we are interested to hold him here."

Reina has made 32 appearances for the Naples outfit this season.
