Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to have made an enquiry for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can. The 20-year-old talented playmaker has been a revelation in the Bundesliga this past season.

  • Can had grown up in Bayern Munich's youth squad and eventually progressed from Bayern's second team to the first before the Bavarian side decided to sell to Leverkusen after the arrival of Pep Guardiola.

The German under-21 international is wanted by Rodgers as an eventual replacement for Steven Gerrard, and is seen as a long term partner for Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson at the heart of the Anfield club's midfield.

Leverkusen have slapped a massive 14 million Euro price tag on Can and are thought to have told any potential suitors that the player is not for sale.

Can is very highly rated in Germany and the player is hoping a move to England will boost his chances of progressing to the full national team for his home country.
