Man Utd boss wants World Cup winner

20 July 2014 - 10:56

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is apparently ready to make a move for Bayern Munich midfield star Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The German international has spent his whole career with the Bundesliga champions, and has made nearly 500 appearances for the club until now.

Schweinsteiger had an excellent stint in Brazil as Germany won the World Cup after a 24-year wait, and his performances have alerted interest from a host of European clubs this summer.

However, The Express claims that manager Pep Guardiola is open to the player's exit from the club, as he aims to bring in fresh faces at the Allianz Arena for the next campaign.

In addition to this, Van Gaal, who is a huge fan of the German star, is keen to get a deal wrapped up for the 29-year-old within this month.
