Southampton plan audacious bid for Chicharito

11 August 2014 - 04:29

Southampton have made contact with Manchester United regarding a potential transfer move for Mexico international striker Javier Hernandez. The player is not guaranteed first team football at United.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The talented striker, who has regularly played fourth choice striker at Old Trafford behind Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck, is apparently Saints coach Ronald Koeman's top target for a transfer move this summer.

Old Trafford representatives had been keen to keep hold of Chicharito but the player himself has asked for a move elsewhere as he searches regular first team football.

Southampton have sold players to the tune of 92 million pounds so far this summer and have already signed Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord, but Koeman wants to add more firepower to his squad and is hoping a deal for Hernandez can be agreed for around 9.5 million pounds in the upcoming weeks.
