Arsenal are reportedly keen on bringing in Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners, who have already signed Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy this summer, are facing competition from Serie A side AC Milan for the Spanish international.
The 31-year-old has been reduced to the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu after 22-year-old Daniel Carvajal burst into the scene, and had only made 18 league appearances for the Whites last season.
According to reports in Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, after letting midfielder Xabi Alonso join Bayern Munich today, Carlo Ancelotti is looking to offload another experienced player.
And boss Arsene Wenger, who is still looking for a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen after he joined Barcelona this month, will be hoping to bring the player to North London.
Arbeloa progressed through Madrid’s youth system and re-joined the side in 2009 after spending two seasons at Anfield with Liverpool, and has made 190 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga club since then.
With just two more days to go for before the transfer window shuts down, a return to the Premier League looks very well on the cards for the Roja’s full-back.
