Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been ruled out of Spain’s 2016 European Championship qualifier against Macedonia to be played on Monday due to a hamstring injury.

  • The 25-year-old, who was a part of the team that lost 1-0 to France in the international friendly last night, had to be replaced in the 67th minute of the game.

With the Brazilian born being in fine form for the Blues, his injury will come as a huge blow to boss Vicente Del Bosque, as the Roja look to defend their European title.

The Stamford Bridge outfit obtained Costa’s services for £32 million from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in summer this year, and the player has been praised for his performances from all quarters, having scored four goals since his debut.

He is the top scorer in the Premier League so far, and manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping he gets back in action before their game against Swansea City on 13th September.

Spain have called on Barcelona’s 19-year-old striker Munir El Haddadi to replace Costa for the qualifier.
