Is Gareth Bale set for England return?

23 December 2014 - 20:40

Gareth Bale has been an important member of Real Madrid's squad, but is he set for a move away from Spain already?

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Manchester United are reportedly set to make a world record bid for the Welsh forward in the January transfer window, as Louis van Gaal looks set to break the bank to bring in one of the world's best players. This will come as a surprise to many, as Bale has been a crucial player for the Madrid side in recent months. Lining up alongside James Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in a four pronged attack, Bale has been an important player as the club went on to win the Champions League and last week's successful World Club Cup campaign.

There have been reports from Spain that Bale may not be happy with life on the Iberian peninsula. If that is indeed true, a move to England will not be a surprise. British players have often struggled in Spain and despite Bale's success in Madrid, it is not a surprise that Bale is struggling to adapt to life in La Liga.

Real Madrid reportedly slapped a 180 million euro release clause on Bale's contract when he arrived, but would accept 110 million euros for the winger. There is no doubt that Bale would be an incredible player in the Premier League once again.
