Stoke City have announced the departure of star keeper Asmir Begovic to Chelsea.

  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game

  • The Bosnian international has been tipped to seal a transfer to Stamford Bridge, following the departure of Petr Cech to Arsenal recently.

Begovic has now opted to end his five-year association with the Potters to ink a four-year deal with the Premier League holders.

"I would like to say thank you to everyone at Stoke Football Club, the chairman and Coates family, Mark Hughes and Tony Pulis, goalkeeper coach Andy Quy, all my teammates and especially the fans who have made me and my family so welcome." Begovic wrote on Twitter.

"I am very happy to be joining @chelseafc. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team. I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour."

Begovic is expected to play as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
