Dortmund could move for Napoli star

Dortmund considering move for Hamsik

04 July 2016 - 22:50

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to complete a switch to Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund are considering a swoop for Napoli's Marek Hamsik, according to reports in Germany.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Dortmund are weighing up their options for replacing the Manchester bound Mkhitaryan, and along with VfL Wolfsburg's AndrĂ© Schurrle, Napoli's Hamsik is another name high on their wish list, according to Bild.

Rumours of a concrete offer for former Chelsea player Schurrle, who worked with BVB boss Thomas Tuchel at Mainz 05, have been circulating lately, but it is believed that the two clubs are some way apart in their respective valuations of the player.

So now it appears that the Yellow and Blacks could be about to turn their attention to Hamsik.

The 29 year old Slovenian was outstanding for Napoli last season, scoring eight goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, helping his side finish runners-up to Serie A champions Juventus.

Napoli will be extremely determined to keep Hamsik, and Dortmund's interest could yet be trumped by Atlético Madrid, if the Italian club do decide to sell.

Hamsik joined Napoli in 2007 and has gone on to make 403 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive tally of 98 goals from midfield in that time.

Hamsik led Slovenia to the knockout stages of this summers UEFA European Championship in France, scoring one of the goals of the tournament against Russia. But the former Brescia player was unable to prevent his side from losing against world champions Germany in the last 16.
