According to The Mirror, manager Antonio Conte wants to seal a &pound22m move for Rodriguez with Cesar Azpilicueta being the only reliable option for the left-back role.

League rivals Arsenal were previously credited with interest for the player before they opted to keep hold of Kieran Gibbs at the Emirates.

Reports elsewhere suggest that the Blues have failed with a record &pound50.2m offer for top target and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
