West Brom demand £25m for Evans

Arsenal would have to cough up a £25m fee if they are to get their hands on West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans. The 28-year-old joined the Baggies from Manchester United in 2015.

  • The Gunners are in a desperate search for a new centre-half following long-term injuries to Gabriel and Per Mertesacker.

Arsene Wenger's side had been actively pursuing a deal for Shkodran Mustafi in recent weeks before they were put off by Valencia's £50m asking price, and this leaves Evans as the possible alternative.

The Baggies have previously rebuffed a £15m offer from the Gunners for the player, and it is thought that they would only settle for a £25m sum to let go of his services.

Evans was a key performer for Tony Pulis' side last season as they stayed clear of the Premier League drop. He was recently part of the Northern Ireland side that reached the last 16 of the European championships.
