Kieran Gibbs ponders his Arsenal future

05 September 2016 - 12:49

Kieran Gibbs is considering his future at the Emirates after he found himself out-of-favour with the England national side.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The 26-year-old is currently playing second fiddle to Nacho Monreal for the left-back role, and this has dented his chances of earning a call-up to the Three Lions squad.

Gibbs, who came through the Gunners youth system, was the first choice under Arsene Wenger between 2012 and 2015 before Monreal stepped up to be own the position.

According to The Sun, the defender is mulling over his long-term future at North London as he finds himself out of the reckoning for his country.

Gibbs was once in a fight with Danny Rose for a place in the backline, but his lack of playing time has seen him drop down the list. Manchester United's Luke Shaw is the preferred back-up for the left-back spot under Sam Allardyce.

The Englishman has two years left on his existing deal at Arsenal.
