Inter join Liverpool in the race for Hector

14 October 2016 - 10:46

Inter Milan have joined Liverpool in the race to sign German full back Jonas Hector in the January transfer window, according to reports in Germany.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • German news outlet Express is reporting that Inter Milan have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Jonas Hector from FC Koln when the transfer market re-opens in January.

Inter are thought to be in the hunt for a new left-back during the January window and, with the money they have gained from their recent take over by the Suning Group from China, manager Frank de Boer will have money to spend.

Hector was Germany’s first choice left back at the recent UEFA European Championships in France this summer, helping the Nationalmannschaft reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by the host nation.

The defender could cost as much as €30 million according to Express.

Liverpool are thought to be in the market for a new left back too, with manager Jurgen Klopp less than satisfied with Alberto Moreno, and having to play midfielder James Milner in the position so far this season.

The England international has performed well in the unfamiliar role, but Klopp would prefer a specialist to be lining up on the left side of his back four.

The former Borussia Dortmund has already raided the Bundesliga this summer to sign Loris Karius, Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip.
