West Ham plan £20m bid for Michy Batshuayi

14 January 2017 - 18:11

West Ham United are prepared to lodge a permanent move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi. The Hammers have already been rebuffed in their loan attempt for the player this month.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Batshuayi, 23, had been the subject of strong interest from both West Ham United and Crystal Palace in the summer before he decided to join the Blues in a £33 deal.

Since then, he has had restricted playing time with manager Antonio Conte offering him only starts in the Cup games.

According to The Star, the Hammers are planning to make a £20m offer for the marksman as they seek to end his dismal spell at Stamford Bridge.

Slaven Bilic's side are currently considering the future of Dimitri Payet, and it is understood that the Frenchman could be sold in order to recoup necessary funds to secure Batshuayi's signature.

Blues boss Conte has previously iterated that he would not entertain offers for his backup striker, and it will be interesting to see how the story unfolds in the coming days.
