Sanchez emerges as surprise Chelsea target

Chelsea plan surprise swoop for Arsenal star, Perfect Hazard replacement?

28 March 2017 - 18:24

Premier League leaders Chelsea have reportedly identified Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez as their prime target for the summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Chilean has stalled over a proposed extension beyond June 2018, and it is understood that the Gunners could cash in on his services during the off-season.

According to The Guardian, the 28-year-old has been earmarked as the top option for manager Antonio Conte when the transfer window reopens in July.

Sanchez has managed an impressive tally of 18 goals and nine assists in the top flight this term, and the Blues could see him as a potential replacement for one of Eden Hazard or Diego Costa.

Hazard has been linked with a world-record move to Real Madrid in the summer while Costa could favour a switch to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain keen on his signature.

Arsene Wenger's side are expected to place a hefty £50m price tag on Sanchez this summer, and they will probably push for the player's sale abroad rather than losing him to one of their domestic rivals.
