Sadio Mane could be out for season with knee injury

04 April 2017 - 09:22

Liverpool are growingly concerned about the knee injury sustained by Sadio Mane in the Merseyside derby over the weekend.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Senegal international was taken off in the second half of the Reds' 3-1 win over Everton after a tangle of legs with Toffees left-back Leighton Baines.

Jurgen Klopp's side are yet to reveal the extent of the problem, but a report from The Mail suggests that there are fears that the attacker could be sidelined for the final eight games of the season.

The Reds are expected to delay a scan on Mane's knee due to swelling around the area, but it is predicted that he could have a surgery in order to overcome the injury.

Mane's absence will come as a huge blow for the Merseyside outfit who have struggled to earn three points against teams in the bottom half.

Bournemouth are up next for Liverpool and Klopp will be hoping that one of Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi will fulfil Mane's role in the lineup.

The former Southampton man has provided 13 goals and five assists for Liverpool, who are currently placed third in the league table.
