Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to reward Kieran Trippier with a new long-term deal after having impressed in his restricted playing time.
The former Burnley initially started the season as the back-up to Kyle Walker, who has owned the right-back spot over the years.
However, his showing on the pitch appears to have impressed Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has rewarded him with a regular run in the line up in recent games.
According to The ESPN, the north London giants will open up talks over a fresh contract with the 26-year-old despite him having three years left on his current deal.
Walker is understood to have had a rift with Pochettino after he was dropped for the 4-2 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea in the semi-final, and it appears that he could seek a fresh challenge away from White Hart Lane in the summer.
Tottenham are currently keeping the pressure on league leaders Chelsea after having maintained their four-point gap with a convincing 2-0 win over arch-rivals Arsenal.
