Dani Alves is on Chelsea's radar

Chelsea keen on signing Dani Alves

11 May 2017 - 05:11

Antonio Conte has identified Dani Alves as the key player Chelsea needs to get in the summer, Catalan daily Sport reports.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 34 year old Brazilian, fresh off his masterful performance over both legs in the Champions League semi-final against Monaco where he assisted 3 goals and scored a screaming volley, is on the top of Antonio Conte's summer transfer list.

Considering Alves age, Chelsea will likely be offering Dani Alves a short 2-year deal where Conte would hope his ability and experience can aid Chelsea in their bid to win the Champions League next season. Dani Alves is set to compete in his 14th European final of his career against Real Madrid.

While Victor Moses has been a revelation for Chelsea at right-back, questions have been raised about his defensive ability, and one would expect Moses to be exposed by higher-level players in Europe such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben or Lionel Messi. As such, a proper right-back is needed to couple the already established Marcos Alonso at left-back to properly contest for the Champions League crown next season.

Although Alves is under contract till next year, many clubs have lined up to sign him, and his stock has drastically risen over the course of the Champions League semi-final. Conte will wait till the season ends to make formally approach Juventus and Alves.
