Man Utd will have to pay hefty price for Atleti stopper

14 May 2017 - 18:18

Manchester United will have to match the release clause of goalkeeper Jan Oblak if they are to prise him away from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • The Slovenia international has emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils with the future of David de Gea still under question.

De Gea has been heavily tipped for a move to Real Madrid this summer with the European champions willing to cough up a £60m fee in order to acquire his services.

According to The Express, the Red Devils have held initial negotiations with the Oblak's entourage, but they still have to meet his maximum value in order to seal the deal.

Atleti are likely to ask United to match the player's escape clause which currently stands at a hefty price of £85m.

Oblak has kept 22 clean sheets for Atleti during the ongoing campaign despite missing out on key games through injury.

The former Benfica man is not the sole player on United's radar with AC Milan teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma also a possible option.
