Bayern Munich eye Chelsea star as Alexis Sanchez alternative

30 May 2017 - 05:40

Bayern Munich are plotting a summer approach for Chelsea winger Willian with Arsenal likely to play hardball in a deal for Alexis Sanchez.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • The Bavarian giants have been heavily tipped to pursue Sanchez from the Emirates this summer, and their hopes could yet be shattered with the Gunners prepared to reward the attacker with a £15m-a-year contract.

German outlet Abendzeitung claims the Bundesliga holders are planning a move for Blues ace Willian, who was restricted to just 15 Premier League starts last term.

Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is eager to add a forward-minded player to his ranks with both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery approaching the final years of their careers.

Meanwhile, Douglas Costa is a likely candidate to leave the Allianz Arena with Juventus hot on the trail of his signature.

Willian, whose contracted until the summer of 2020, is likely to cost a sum in upwards of £43m in order to lure him from Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United are also understood to hold an interest in the attack, but the Blues will block any potential move to a direct league competitor.
