Antonio Conte ready to discuss swap deal for Bonucci

Conte planning to offload Matic in Bonucci deal

Antonio Conte ready to discuss swap deal for Bonucci

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could entertain the prospect of offloading midfielder Nemanja Matic in a proposed deal which could see him unite with Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Italy international almost made a Premier League move with Manchester City before the ill-health of his son urged him to stay put in Turin.

Bonucci has since been an integral figure in the Old Lady setup as usual, but he did have a minor spat with manager Max Allegri for which he apologised.

According to The Sun, Matic could be offered as makeweight in a deal which could cost in excess of £48m pound for Bonucci.

The 30-year-old has firmly established himself as a regular in the Old Lady back three, and Conte wants him to fulfil a similar role on his arrival to west London.

Victor Moses looked particularly average during the second half of last season, and this could potentially see Cesar Azpilicueta pushed to right wing-back in order to facilitate the arrival of a new central defender.
