Cash-rich AC Milan could lodge an attempt to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart with the future of Gianluigi Donnarumma uncertain beyond this summer.
Donnarumma, 18, has turned down the chance to extend his contract beyond 2018, and he could be set for a big-club move with both Manchester United and Real Madrid with an interest.
As a result, Hart has propped up the Rossoneri shortlist as they seek to recruit a new shot-stopper, who could guide them to their first title in six years.
The San Siro outfit are currently under the control of a Chinese consortium, who have already coughed up around £70m to bolster the squad.
Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Andre Silva and Ricardo Rodriguez are the notable names to have arrived at Milan, and there could be further more additions as they look to bridge the gap on Juventus.
Hart had a rather mixed spell during his temporary stint with Torino last term, and this has limited his potential suitors for the summer.
Meanwhile, his wages are also a stumbling block for many with Everton opting to cough up a £30m sum on Sunderland's Jordan Pickford, who was offered a £50,000 weekly package.
Hart is currently on wages of around £150,000 a week, but City will still demand a fee of around £25m for his exit this summer.
