Premier League giants keeping tabs on Luke Shaw

Shaw on Chelsea, Arsenal radar

Premier League giants keeping tabs on Luke Shaw

11 November 2017 - 09:52

Chelsea and Arsenal are among a clutch of elite Premier League clubs who are monitoring the situation of Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The 22-year-old has struggled to make himself a regular under manager Jose Mourinho, and he has yet to make a top-flight appearance this season.

According to The Telegraph, Shaw's career at Old Trafford appears to be drawing to a close having dropped down the pecking order for the left-back spot.

Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian have all commanded a place ahead of the Englishman, while the injured Marcos Rojo is also expected to compete for the position.

As a result, the former Southampton graduate is attracting interest from the Premier League's elite with Chelsea and Arsenal among potential candidates to pursue his signature in the New Year.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is still on the search for a competitor to Marcos Alonso, and he could consider a move for Shaw, who could come at a cheaper price than Juventus' Alex Sandro.

Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac has comfortably settled in the left wing-back position at the Emirates, but Arsene Wenger could yet move in for a new signing with Nacho Monreal more of a central defender nowadays.

Manchester United recently extended Shaw's contract via an extension clause until June 2019, but they could still sell him before he enters the final year of his contract.
